This apartment in the heart of the Latin quarter had not been renovated since the 60’s. The apartment was crossing with views to Notre Dame Cathedral on one side and boulevard Saint germain on the other.
The client was a bachelor who needed a modular space that could easily accommodate parties as well as an extra bedroom for guests. We created a box enclosing all the fluids and vital functions of the apartment such as bathroom, closet, toilet, kitchen, laundry and lots of storage. It was covered in mirrors in order to reflect the outside and enlarge the space. The rest was left open and modular in order to keep as much freedom as could be. No walls were built, only furniture and sliding doors. A free plan. The line of the windows is left in the open in order to see the sun evolve throughout the day and enter the apartment.
The intervention was reduced to the necessary while keeping existing features like herringbone parquet and colorful chimneys.
